Ultramarino – Encontros

The series Ultramarino – Encontros will offer 3 open-air concerts in Sintra, with free admission and live streaming on YouTube.

The Brazilian singer, composer and guitarist Fred Martins will host a series of summer concerts called “Ultramarino – Encontros” (encounters or duets), always at 6:30 pm at the beautiful Camélia Gardens venue, in Sintra, Portugal. Admission is free, but space is limited and requires advance booking via email.

“This project aims to promote to the public, with free admission and in a particularly pleasant environment, the diversity and quality of Portuguese-language artists found in Portugal”, explains Fred Martins, who will also present his album Ultramarino, which brings together songs composed in the years since he has lived between Portugal and Spain.

The first concert, on July 4th, will feature the Cape Verdean musician Mário Lúcio as a special guest. His compositions in the main styles of music in Cape Verde have already been performed by Cesária Évora, Mayra Andrade and Lucibella. On this day, the musical lineup will also include songs such as “14 anos”, by Paulinho da Viola, “Futuros Amantes”, by Chico Buarque, “Luz Negra”, by Nelson Cavaquinho, and “A Filha da Porta-Bandeira”, by Fred Martins.
